A journey through traditional architecture, local culture and everyday life in southwestern China.
We were delighted to welcome 15 guests from Princeton University School of Architecture on a 7-day, 6-night educational journey through Yunnan, China.
Starting in Kunming, the itinerary took the group through Jianshui, Yuanyang and Mile before returning to Kunming. Designed around architectural exploration and cultural discovery, the journey brought together historic courtyards, distinctive landscapes, traditional villages and the everyday experiences that make travel in China so rewarding.
One of the group's favorite discoveries so far has been Ting Ziyun Hotel in Jianshui. Its traditional courtyard-style architecture and old-world atmosphere made the accommodation an experience in itself, offering the group another way to appreciate the character of traditional Chinese spaces.
Local food also became an unexpected highlight. The guests particularly enjoyed Yunnan rice noodles at breakfast, while a lunch dish featuring finely shredded potatoes sparked genuine surprise. It was a small but memorable reminder that regional cuisine is not only about flavor, but also about technique, ingredients and local traditions.
The group also shared photos from their visit to the Stone Forest, where dramatic limestone formations reveal the remarkable natural landscape of Yunnan.
Beyond the attractions, this journey reflects our approach to educational and cultural travel: thoughtful route planning, comfortable transportation, selected accommodation, arranged group meals and attraction tickets, all coordinated to make the experience smoother for international visitors.
Thank you to the Princeton University School of Architecture team for choosing Sichuan Airport International Travel Agency to help arrange this journey. We look forward to following the group's remaining adventures in Yunnan and hearing more about their discoveries along the way.
