Overview

This 10-day classic Tibet journey combines the region's most iconic cultural landmarks, sacred lakes, Himalayan landscapes, grasslands and authentic Tibetan experiences.

The first three days focus on Lhasa's cultural and spiritual heritage, including Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery and its famous debate tradition, the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Street. You will also have the opportunity to experience everyday Tibetan life in a traditional tea house.

From Lhasa, the journey continues west through Yamdrok Lake, Gyantse and Shigatse before entering the Himalayas and traveling toward Everest Base Camp. Spend the night near Everest and, weather permitting, witness the spectacular sunset and sunrise over Mount Everest.

After leaving Everest, travel deep into Northern Tibet, crossing vast grasslands and visiting Siling Lake, Namtso and Tashi Dor. The journey concludes in Lhasa with a relaxing traditional Tibetan medicine wellness experience.

Day 1 Arrival in Lhasa → Highland Acclimatization

Upon arrival in Lhasa, your private vehicle will transfer you to your city-center hotel for check-in.

The first day is intentionally kept relaxed, with no intensive sightseeing planned. At approximately 3,650 meters above sea level, Lhasa requires visitors to give their bodies time to adjust to the high-altitude environment.

After check-in, rest at the hotel or enjoy a gentle walk nearby if you feel comfortable. Avoid strenuous exercise and alcohol on the first day and allow your body to acclimatize naturally.

Day 2 Drepung Monastery → Sera Monastery → Monks' Debate

After breakfast, visit Drepung Monastery, one of the most important monasteries in Lhasa.

Built along the hillside, the monastery features distinctive Tibetan architecture, religious artwork and sacred spaces that offer insight into Tibetan Buddhist traditions. Lunch can be enjoyed at a local monastery restaurant.

In the afternoon, continue to Sera Monastery, famous for its traditional monks' debates. Through gestures, questions and answers, monks engage in lively discussions of Buddhist philosophy. The experience provides a fascinating glimpse into Tibetan Buddhist learning and traditions.

Day 3 Potala Palace → Dragon King Pool → Jokhang Temple → Barkhor Street

 visit one of Tibet's most iconic landmarks, the Potala Palace.

Built dramatically against the hillside, the palace complex has long been one of the defining symbols of Lhasa and Tibet. Explore its historic architecture, murals and religious spaces while learning about Tibet's history and culture.

Continue to Dragon King Pool Park beneath the Potala Palace for a more relaxed perspective of the city and its surroundings.

In the afternoon, visit Jokhang Temple, one of the most important spiritual centers in Lhasa. Walk along the pilgrimage route around the temple through Barkhor Street, an area where religious traditions and everyday local life continue to meet.

Finish the day in a traditional Tibetan tea house, enjoying sweet tea and observing the relaxed social atmosphere of local Lhasa life.

Day 4 Lhasa → Yamdrok Lake → Gyantse → Shigatse

After breakfast, leave Lhasa and begin your journey across the Tibetan Plateau.

Cross Gangbala Mountain and stop at a panoramic viewpoint overlooking Yamdrok Lake. From above, the lake's turquoise and deep-blue waters contrast beautifully with surrounding mountains and valleys, creating one of Tibet's most iconic landscapes.

Continue to a local Tibetan family home near the lake and enjoy a traditional countryside lunch. This personal experience offers a more authentic perspective on Tibetan food, family life and everyday culture than sightseeing alone.

In the afternoon, travel through rural Gyantse, barley fields and dramatic highland valleys before arriving in Shigatse.

Day 5 Shigatse → Tingri → Gyawu La Pass → Everest Base Camp

After breakfast, complete the necessary travel procedures for the Everest region and begin the journey deep into the Himalayas.

After passing Tingri, stop at scenic viewpoints overlooking the magnificent Himalayan range. When visibility is good, several major snow-covered peaks may be visible, including Mount Everest.

Continue to Gyawu La Pass, one of the key viewpoints for panoramic Himalayan scenery. On a clear day, the mountain range stretches dramatically across the horizon.

Arrive near Everest in the late afternoon and check into local accommodation. If weather and visibility permit, wait for sunset and watch the final sunlight illuminate the snow-covered peak of Mount Everest.

Day 6 Everest Sunrise → Rongbuk Monastery → Dinggye → Sakya → Shigatse

Start early today for a chance to witness sunrise over Mount Everest, weather permitting.

As the first light reaches the Himalayas, the summit gradually emerges from the morning shadows, creating one of the most memorable natural moments of the journey.

Continue to Rongbuk Monastery, located near the northern side of Mount Everest and closely associated with the region's spiritual and cultural heritage.

Leave the Everest area and travel through Dinggye and Sakya toward Shigatse. Along the way, stop at scenic viewpoints to admire the eastern Himalayan landscape, with possible views toward peaks such as Lhotse depending on visibility.

Return to Shigatse in the evening and enjoy a Tibetan dinner accompanied by traditional music and dance.

Day 7 Shigatse → Northern Tibet Grasslands → Siling Lake → Banga

enter the vast Northern Tibet grasslands.

As the road continues deeper into the plateau, urban landscapes give way to endless grasslands, snow-covered mountains and occasional nomadic tents.

Depending on local conditions, stop briefly at a hot spring area for a relaxing foot soak. Continue to Siling Lake, where the enormous highland lake is surrounded by sweeping grasslands and distant mountains.

If suitable opportunities arise, you may encounter local nomadic families or traditional tents along the route and gain a glimpse into their highland lifestyle.

Northern Tibet is also home to a variety of high-altitude wildlife. Tibetan antelope and black-necked cranes may occasionally be spotted, although wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed.

Day 8 Banga → Peiku Tso → Tashi Dor → Northern Namtso → Damxung

After breakfast, continue deeper into the lakes and grasslands of Northern Tibet.

Travel through highland lake landscapes before reaching the Tashi Dor area on the northern shore of Namtso. The area is known for its dramatic rock formations, sweeping shoreline and views toward the surrounding mountains.

From the lakeshore, the combination of deep-blue water, rugged rocks and snow-covered mountains creates a striking highland landscape. On clear days, the sky and lake appear especially vivid.

Continue along the eastern side of Namtso toward Damxung, concluding the Northern Tibet section of the journey.

Day 9 Damxung → Lhasa → Tibetan Medicine Wellness

After breakfast, leave Damxung and return to Lhasa.

After several days of traveling through remote highland landscapes, returning to the city offers a more relaxed pace and greater comfort.

In the afternoon, enjoy a traditional Tibetan medicine wellness experience, designed to help you relax after the long journey.

The rest of the afternoon and evening are free. You may explore Lhasa at your own pace, shop for Tibetan handicrafts and souvenirs, or return to Barkhor Street for one final relaxed evening in Tibet.

Day 10 Lhasa → Airport/Train Station → Departure

Enjoy some free time according to your flight or train schedule.

If time allows, enjoy one final Tibetan breakfast or pick up local souvenirs before departure.
